6-year-old raises over £4,400 in memory of nanny
6-year-old Howard Knight from Letchworth has raised £4,408.31 for Garden House Hospice Care in memory of his nanny, Anne, by completing a 10 mile walk.
Anne Tew was a valued volunteer at the Hospice and part of fundraising group Friends of Garden House Hospice (FOGHHS). Howard came up with the idea himself to walk 10 miles along the south coast in her memory, saying he wanted to raise money for a charity close to his nanny's heart.
"Nanny was a great adventurer... and loved discovering new places across the world and admiring nature when out for a walk," Howard explained. "This is why I decided to set myself a walking challenge."

Upon completing his walk, Howard's mum, Isabel, told us he received "a true hero's welcome". A pub at the finish line had put up posters, and he walked into a round of applause, a free lunch and a mocktail.
She added: "Howard absolutely loved doing this fundraiser and is already thinking up what he would like to do next. He did mention a marathon but I think that may be a push for his little legs!
"Hospice care is invaluable, and it takes very special people to work and volunteer for wonderful organisations such as Garden House Hospice Care, people like Anne."
It also takes very special people like Howard to help us raise the £6.5million a year we need to fund our services! A huge thank you goes to Howard, Isabel and the rest of family for their efforts - nanny Anne will be very proud.
