Celebrate our shops with us this Hospice Care Week
We are proud to be supporting Hospice UK's Hospice Care Week, highlighting the brilliant work of our dedicated staff and wonderful volunteers in our shops, and our generous donors and valued shoppers who bring in the vital income needed to fund our services.
Shop with us
It costs £7.7m a year to provide our services, and although we receive some funding from the NHS, we need to raise £15,300 every day in charitable income - that’s £10.63 a minute.
We have 11 shops located across North Hertfordshire and surrounding areas - in Stevenage, Letchworth, Hitchin, Baldock, Fairfield and Royston. With hundreds of items on sale, you can grab yourself a bargain knowing that you'll be helping fund our specialist care while strengthening our community spirit.

Donate with us
The sale of donated items brings in income that translates directly into essential care and wellbeing services. Even holey, stained or tired clothing that's sitting around is of value; last year we raised £96,906 through donation of rags alone. This could fund more than two weeks of care for all patients on our Inpatient Unit - covering the cost of nursing and our doctors, as well as running costs like hot water and keeping the unit clean.
We will gratefully accept donations of your preloved clothing and unwanted goods at any of our shops and at The Depot, our all-under-one-roof distribution centre in Letchworth.

Volunteer with us
Volunteers are the heart of our shops. Without their time, energy and commitment, we wouldn't be able to raise the funds we do. Desa volunteers at our Stevenage Old Town shop:
"I was made redundant after the first lockdown, and I was absolutely devastated, so my hubby suggested: 'do something you've always wanted to do and volunteer.' That was three years ago and I haven't looked back.
It's been an amazing experience. It's like a two-way street so you get things out of it as well as giving - I've learned things that I've never done. I was always an office bod, so I'd never really dealt with public, with money or with selling things. I've made friends outside of volunteering and I feel like I'm doing something worthwhile, like I'm giving something back to community and helping people."

Whether they have a few hours or a couple of days to spare each week, our volunteer Shop Assistants will play an important role in helping us continue to provide our services. Could you be our next volunteer? No retail experience is needed - just your time, energy and commitment.
