Hospice wins countywide hand hygiene competition
Garden House Hospice Care has been presented with a certificate and voucher in recognition of winning the HCC IPC Hand Hygiene Promotion Campaign, run by the Hertfordshire Care Providers Association (HCPA).
Our Practice Development Educator, Alison Hailes, created a training programme - consisting of light box and practical sessions - to go through infection control management with staff including hand hygiene. A video of one session was submitted to the HCPA's competition, highlighting what the Hospice does to achieve good practice with hand hygiene.
Alison said:
"I'm really proud of this achievement. This shows that the Hospice takes infection control measures seriously and encourages best practice, and therefore means great quality care to our patients."
Geraldine Bruce, Head of Health Protection and Tanya Brady, Senior Infection Prevention & Control Nurse from Herts County Council and Hannah Smith and Sarah Scott-Foster from HCPA visited the Hospice to present Alison with a certificate of achievement and a voucher, which will be used towards refreshments at future training courses.
Geraldine said:
"We just think it's fantastic what Alison has achieved. It's such a great competition and it really imbeds sets of hand hygiene. Congratulations to the Hospice on behalf of all of us and we hope others follow your work."
