Paying tribute to Jenny Lupton
It’s with great honour and sadness that we pay tribute to former Garden House Hospice Care manager, Jenny Lupton.
Jenny joined the Hospice in 1990 as Hospice Secretary and quickly took over the role of Administrator, overseeing the official opening.
Under Jenny’s guidance, the Hospice quickly established itself as a cornerstone of the community. Part of the Hospice Management team for 25 years, she ensured it became a benchmark for palliative care, education and employer of like-minded, caring individuals, providing invaluable care and support to patients, and their families, when it was most needed.
Steve Mellish, Hospice Chairman described Jenny as being a ‘pivotal part’ of making end of life care a priority in our community.
“Jenny supported the Hospice Management team to innovate hospice care back in 1990, and with thanks to the strong foundations she has left in her legacy we are able to innovate again today, extending our care to support people living with frailty.
“Jenny’s commitment in making the Hospice a long-term provision of care for the community was outstanding. She will be missed and remembered by many staff and volunteers at the Hospice as someone who was and will always be part of our foundations here at Garden House Hospice Care.
“We send our heartfelt condolences to Jenny’s family at this time.”
Former Chairman, David Heyman said:
“Jenny’s name will forever be associated with Garden House. The continued work of the Hospice is testament in itself to the remarkable contribution that Jenny made during her 25 years with the organisation. The great qualities that Jenny brought were her calmness, her good humour and above all her quiet efficiency.”
During her tenure, the Hospice at Home service was launched in 2002, and in 2006 a complex extension to the accommodation was successfully completed, providing day services, education and improved patient facilities.
In recognition of her outstanding contribution to the community, Jenny received the rare and esteemed honour of the Paul Harris Fellowship from the Rotary Club.
At the time of her retirement in 2015, she left a legacy of efficient, compassionate and holistic care, supported by a robust financial foundation.
Jenny died on Friday November 10th at home, surrounded by her husband Trevor, and two children Sarah and Simon.
We will remember Jenny fondly as someone who made a huge difference, working with passion and commitment to support the care we continue to deliver today.
