Remember the people you love and miss at Lights of Life
We are opening or gardens to the public in November for our annual festival of remembrance. A ‘stunning’ display of lights will be created as a tribute to the people no longer with us.
Garden House Hospice Care’s annual Lights of Life service will take place from 5-6pm on Sunday 17th November. It will be hosted by BBC Regional Radio presenter, Babs Michel and also consist of live music from local singer-songwriter Roxy Searle, readings from staff and families, and the official switch on of the ‘Lights of Life’.
The service is free to attend but must be pre-booked due to high demand.
Hundreds of people attend the service each year as the ‘Lights of Life’ are switched on
Pam and her family attend the Lights of Life service every year to remember her dad, Ken, who died in 2010 and her mum, Iris, who died in 2012:
“I find the service so moving, our family really appreciate it. We will always remember what excellent and positive care they, and we, had from your lovely staff. Thank you for including the loved ones of your patients in what you do.”

People are also invited to write a message on a dedication star which will be hung in a display in the gardens surrounded by twinkling lights. For each star dedicated the Hospice asks for a donation, which is used to fund the care they give patients and their loved ones this winter.
These dedication stars can be viewed at the service, or in a garden visit later in the week. 15-minute slots can be booked between 5-7pm from Wednesday 20th to Sunday 24th November. These visits offers people a peaceful walk through the gardens at their own pace where they can also light a candle and place it in a location of their choice.
Dedication stars are handwritten in memory of loved ones and can be viewed after the service or in a private garden visit
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Lights of Life at Garden House Hospice Care. New for this year, local business Daphne Rosa have created hand-drawn wooden wreaths which can be personalised with a word or your loved one's name. They cost £12 each with 15% from every wreath sold to the Hospice.
Kate, owner of Daphne Rosa, said:
“I loved working with Garden House Hospice Care as part of their recent Wildflowers campaign, so jumped at the chance to be involved in the Lights for Life event too. I love what I do, but it brings me the greatest joy when it enables me to give a little back and I hope that the wooden wreath decorations help to spread a little love this festive season.”

Kerry Cunnane is Legacy and In Memory Manager at the Hospice:
“Lights of Life is a lovely way to remember a loved one. As well as songs and readings, we pause for a moment of reflection which gives people an opportunity to think about their loved one who is no longer here. This is our 25th year holding this special event. Everyone is welcome to be a part of Lights of Life, regardless of whether they have a personal connection to the Hospice.
“We would like to thank our sponsors at E.H. Crouch, Arena Security and Multimessage Systems Ltd.”
