Stevenage FC to dedicate upcoming match to Hospice

Stevenage Football Club's upcoming match on Saturday 13th April will be dedicated to raising funds for Garden House Hospice Care as its 2023/24 official charity partner.

The Hospice will 'takeover' the fixture against Burton Albion. Stevenage players will play the match in their third kit which has our logo on proud display. There will be opportunities for fans to support us throughout the day in the form of raffles, text donations and bucket collections. There will even be a fun halftime competition between the Hospice's 'Harry the Bear' and Stevenage FC's 'Boro Bear' mascots.

Last year, Garden House Hospice Care supported over 300 families living in Stevenage alone. We need to raise £15,300 every day - up from £9,700 last year to continue providing our services in Stevenage and across the rest of North Hertfordshire and surrounding villages and towns.

Here's what some of the players had to say about the work the Hospice is doing when they visited in December:
"They do fantastic work. To see the level of care people receive is very humbling." said team captain Carl Piergianni.

Defender Dan Butler added: "I didn’t realise just how much work the staff do. It shocked me. The funding is so important, people need the Hospice."

Vivien and Derek Underwood have supported Stevenage Football Club for nearly 50 years. When the charity partnership with Garden House Hospice Care was announced, they bought the brand-new shirts the same day and have proudly worn them since:

"When we found out Garden House Hospice Care was the clubs charity of the year we felt so proud, it is such a brilliant cause. We bought the charity shirts that same day and wear them all the time to help raise awareness."

Charlotte is the daughter of a former patient, Christopher, who used the Hospice at Home service when he was diagnosed with a brain tumour:

"Without the Hospice at Home team, dad wouldn't have been home for Christmas. We wouldn't have been able to do it without their help."
