Tick the box - make your donations go further with Gift Aid

Thursday 5th October is Gift Aid Awareness Day and we are putting a pledge out to supporters to ‘tick the box’ when they donate, allowing us to claim an extra 25% on donations. Gift Aid is worth around £1.3 billion to the UK Charity Sector each year, with approximately £560 million going unclaimed.

Here at Garden House Hospice Care, we are extending the campaign even further to increase our vital income, actively making October Gift Aid Awareness Month.

Kelly Jode is Trading Support Manager at the Hospice:

"We want to take this opportunity to explain to our donating customers why this tax relief is so vital, and encourage every eligible donor to sign up to our scheme.

"Gift Aid is so important to Garden House Hospice Care and it ultimately helps our patients and their families."

Philippa Ellington, Head of Trading at the Hospice, adds:

"Anybody who is a UK taxpayer is eligible to sign up for Gift Aid. It means we can reclaim the tax you have already paid on every donation you make from HMRC, adding 25% in value to your donated items or 25p per £1 of cash.

"It is at no extra cost to yourself, and has a massive impact to the services we can provide to the wider community and within the Hospice. Last year we generated an incredible £62,725 by selling 55,615 items that were gift aided to us. That’s enough to fund our entire services for more than six days."

To sign up for Gift Aid, visit our distribution centre or any of our shops, or download our Gift Aid leaflet.
