Garden House Hospice Care provides specialist palliative care for patients facing life limiting illnesses, their families and carers, to enable them to have the best possible quality of life.
We are recruiting Senior Health Care Assistants to work alongside the qualified nursing staff in our 12 bedded Inpatient Unit. Our low patient to Nurse ratio allows us to provide the highest standards of individualised care to enhance the quality of life for our patients and their carers/families. Ideally you will have experience of working in a health care setting and be able to demonstrate excellent caring, communication and team working skills. The role will at times be demanding but also very rewarding.
What does a Senior Health Care Assistant do?
- take part in the admission of patients to the Inpatient Unit, including welcoming of relatives
- take part in handover and nurse meetings
- assist the patient in all aspects of personal care, following the individualised care plans prescribed, maintaining privacy and dignity
- promote open and sensitive dialogue in order to support the patient and family
- communicate and liaise with the GHHC community registered nursing team and key worker, reporting any change in the patient’s condition or concerns
What skills does a Senior Health Care Assistant need?
- you will be an experienced Health Care Assistant and possess (or be working towards) an NVQ level 2 or 3 in Health Care
- have a caring, sensitive and positive approach
- confidence with IT / electronic patient record systems (we use SystmOne)
- aspire to the Charity’s ethos & values
