Christmas Treecycling
Planning to buy a real Christmas tree but don't want the hassle of disposing of it in January? Fear not - Garden House Hospice Care's dedicated team of volunteers will remove the stress by collecting your tree from your home and recycling it for you! All we ask for in exchange is a donation toward our care. We are hoping to raise around £30,000 from our Christmas Treecycling scheme this year, which could fund our entire services for two days.
Postcode restrictions
We can only collect Christmas trees from postcodes SG1-9, SG15-18 and AL6.
Instructions
- Book online by Wednesday 1st January, choose your donation amount and let us know the size of your tree, where it will be left (note, this must be outside) and where our van can stop to collect it.
- Remove all festive decorations, tinsel and lights from your Christmas tree prior to collection.
- Leave your tree in your specified location from 8.00am on Saturday 4th January and it will be collected by 5.00pm on Thursday 9th January. We cannot confirm which collections will be on which date as this will depend on volunteer availability.
- Put your feet up and feel good knowing that not only are you helping fund Garden House Hospice Care's vital work, shreds from your Christmas tree will also be donated to community projects in and around North Hertfordshire.
Suggested donation amounts
Any amount you can give at this time is greatly appreciated. £15 is the minimum donation and we have included four price points as a suggestion:
- £15 could pay for petrol for three home visits by our Community teams
- £24 could pay an hour of care on our Inpatient Unit for one patient
- £50 could pay for one seated exercise session for around 33 people attending a Wellbeing Hub
- £107 could pay for an activity from our Rehab and Wellbeing team, such as a Physiotherapy appointment or Tai Chi class.
